Who We Are
Webgyrlz Code is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that focuses on computer science training for girls and women. Training includes web development using HTML & CSS, introduction to animation and game development with Scratch programming, and introduction to mobile app development.
HOW IT STARTED
Webgyrlz Code is the 2014 winner of the EngenuitySC Ignite! Ideas contest
HOW IT’S GOING
In-person classes are taught at various locations throughout South Carolina. Virtual coding classes are offered throughout the year.
What Makes Us Unique?
EASY TO UNDERSTAND
Our program can be taught to girls as young as 8 years old.
NO EQUIPMENT NEEDED
We provide all equipment (for in-person classes) for the females to learn to code and build websites, games, and animations. All we need are students ready to learn.
NO INTERNET NEEDED
Our program was designed to be taught in ALL communities. No Internet Access? NO PROBLEM! Our program is taught the same way as class spaces with the Internet.
VIRTUAL LESSONS
Our curriculum has successfully been taught online since 2019. We can offer the same in-person experience virtually.
In the News
We are honored and humbled to be a recipient of 1 of 7 General Operating Support Grants from Central Carolina Community Foundation. The $10,000 grant for Black-led and Black-benefiting nonprofit organizations is a “program aimed at removing some of the financial barriers nonprofits face as they strive to fulfill their missions.”
