SUMMARY:Women in Tech Atlanta - OutGeekWomen
DESCRIPTION:We are thrilled to extend an invitation to our event\, offering a chance to network with accomplished female pros across diverse IT domains\, rub shoulders with CTOs\, connect with talented dev teams\, and mingle with the brilliant minds behind your favorite tech brands. This event is a match made in heaven for software engineers\, data scientists\, PMs and project managers\, and UI/UX designers who want to stay ahead of the game in the fast-paced world of tech. While this event is centered around women in tech\, we extend a warm invitation to everyone to join us.\nOn the company side\, we have CTOs who can write code blindfolded\, VP of Engineering who have a black belt in project management\, and talent acquisition leaders who have recruited more people than McDonald’s has served hamburgers. And on the attendee side\, we have techies who know how to turn caffeine into code and can make an app out of thin air. This event is not just about networking\, it’s about connecting with fellow mid-/senior tech pros in the industry\, sharing a laugh or two\, and maybe even finding your next career move. So come join us for a unique networking event where job seekers take the driver’s seat! \nWe will: listen to short and sweet pitches by CTOs and hiring teams and vote best pitch (who said that corporate evaluation can’t be fun?)\, talk all things tech\, network and run speed interviews\, meet faces behind our fav tech brands\, and see what our local tech has to offer this season. \nTickets\, Fees\, Collaboration\nCurious techies and job seekers never pay fees to attend our events. If you’re hiring and are looking to present\, network and hire at this event\, please register here. If you are a part of a tech/community group and are interested in joining forces\, please email us at hello@outgeek.org. \nPrevious hiring/presenting teams came from:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat’s the next step? \nRegister now and our event director will be in touch a few days prior to the session with event details\, agenda\, speakers\, employer information and jobs. \n  \nWhat if my current employer attends the event? \nWe will notify you when your employer joins the session. \n  \nAre your events virtual? \nSome of our events are in-person while others are held virtually via Hopin. Both of them have proven to offer an excellent experience for both job seekers and employers. For details please review the event location on your right. \n  \nDisclaimer \nAn event ticket does not guarantee admission due to the theme restrictions (full-stack\, back-end\, product-only) and roster of posted vacancies. We work with mid- and senior-level IT talent\, and rarely see entry-level positions advertised at our sessions. \n  \nRefunds \nOur events are free for talented tech enthusiasts seeking new job opportunities. \nwww.outgeek.org

SUMMARY:Nation Builders Hackathon
DESCRIPTION:We are challenging high school students in Atlanta\, Chicago\, and Los Angeles to create a prototype for a mobile application that gives members of a community the ability to: \n\ninteract with each other\,\ninteract with their government\,\ncreate economic opportunities\, and\nmake decisions as a community\n\nWhat’s the Goal? \nStudents will use what they learn in class and about new technologies to design an online community (called a Decentralized Autonomous Community or DAO) that gets people involved in fixing social or economic problems that are important to young people. The categories for the competition are: \n\nAll Home Safe First Responder Challenge\nTools for Life Assistive Technology Challenge\nTAG-Ed Smart Cities Challenge\nUSAID International Development Challenge\nDIANA Challenge\n\nWhat Is The Structure of A Team? \nThis year’s competition is open to high school students in Atlanta\, Chicago\, and Los Angeles and their surrounding metro areas. A team must have five students to compete. Teams are allowed to have students from different schools\, but those students must all be residents of the same metropolitan area. \nHow Do We Prepare for the Competition? \nOnce you register for the competition and receive notice that your team is official\, you will receive invitations to monthly meetings with experts in project management\, design thinking\, and app development. These experts will help your team understand how a DAO works and how your team can create one for a community in your city. The experts will also help you develop a prototype. During the time between these meetings\, your team will be able to use what you learn to create your technology. \nHow Does Our Team Compete in The Competition? \nYour team will have from November 1 until April 1 to prepare for the competition by doing your own research\, learning from our subject matter experts (SME)\, and participating in optional monthly training meetings. In April and May 2024\, your team will participate in an in-person competition in your city to pitch the product or concept your team developed. During the 4-hour event\, technology experts will help participants put the final touches on their prototypes and then pitch thier solution to civic\, buisness\, and community leaders. \nMy school is participating. How many teams can my school have? \nA school may have as many teams participating as it chooses. However\, each participant can only be a member of one team. Each team entering the competition must have five members. Each team member must register and fill out a waiver form in order to participate. Each team must also have an adult representative. An adult can represent more than one team. \nWhat if I don’t have a full team or my school isn’t participating? \nRegister as an individual and the organizers of the challenge will work to help you join a team that can benefit from your skillset. \nHow Does Judging Work? \nJudges will choose the best projects based on the following elements \n\nUtility – does the product solve the problem it was designed to solve?\nDesign – is it practical? is it intuitive? Does it maximize DAO technologies?\nQuality – Is it efficient? Is it effective? Is it progressive?\n\nWhat Are The Prizes? \nThe winning team of the Atlanta Challenge will receive a $10\,000 scholarship to their choice of college or university ($2\,000 for each team member) \nThe winning team of the Chicago Challenge will receive a $10\,000 cash prize ($2\,000 for each team member) \nThe winning team of the Los Angeles Challenge will receive a $10\,000 cash prize ($2\,000 for each team member) \nWill I Need A Media Wavier? \nYour registration and participation in this event signifies your consent to have your likeness used to promote this event and future All Home Safe Innovation Challenge competitions.
